About me
Web Developer, Hobby Photographer, Former Physicist
Hi! I am Alice, welcome to my site! I am fullstack web developer from Leipzig, Germany. I am originally a physicist, but shortly after getting my Ph.D. I decided to switch my profession and enrolled on a one-year intensive training in MERN stack (check my CV for further details).
Coding gives me the possibility to combine logic (as well as other skills acquired during my scientific career) with creativity. After finishing my training I am ready to apply all the gained knowledge together with my scientific skills and enthusiasm.
Fun fact about myself: hats are my big passion. I own 13 different ones and you will rarely see me without one :)

Web Development
I accomplished a one-year training in Fullstack Web Development focused on MERN technologies (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) at Digital Carrier Institute. During the course, we build several projects (see my Portfolio) - some of them individually, some of them in groups, where I very often took over the role of tech lead.
In this time I was also partially employed as a tutor to help other students to better understand the topic and to debug their code. I regularly deepen and extend my knowledge by following Frontend Masters courses and I happily handed that input over to my classmates during my lessons.
My first working experience came through a collaboration with TechSophia. This Czech company creates digital versions of diagnostic test for pre-school children, in order to help them to prepare better for their school start. For this collaboration I taught myself Angular and Typescript .
I am really passionate about helping to turn people‘s visions into reality using my know-how.

Creativity
As a web developer, I try to not only focus on technology and coding, but also on the aesthetics and user experience of the website (see for example my original e-shop project Calli-shop in Portfolio ). I am acquainted with basic tools that help me design websites such as Figma and Canva. My SVG knowledge allows me to create compact, subtle and yet real looking animations like the name in handwriting style or the on-hover social media logos on this site.
As a hobby photographer with more than 15 years of experience, I am able to provide my own material for the projects and edit/modify pictures using image processing software such as GIMP or Zoner Photo Studio .
At last but not at least I volunteer at Endometriose dialog, e.V. where I prepare designs for social media pages and also partially for the main website of the association.
Physics
As a physicist, I learned a lot of useful skills which I can apply in any job position but especially while coding – e.g. problem solving, creative thinking or attention to detail. Because science is no longer a task for one individual, I also gained experience in teamwork and communication.
Besides, I am specifically trained in advanced mathematics and data analysis. Thanks to my articles, I learned how to also prepare publications and especially images for print.
Moreover, it was during my physics studies when I first met programming. It all started with Delphi and later on I gained advanced knowledge in Matlab/Octave programming software. During my Ph.D. I also tested the functionalities of data analysis software that was newly introduced in our research group.
